Rebuild Trust. Deepen Connection. Transform Your Relationship.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

You may find yourselves having the same argument over and over again. One partner pursues while the other withdraws. Conversations quickly escalate or shut down. Conflicts are not resolved. Trust has been damaged. Intimacy feels distant. You still love one another—but you're no longer experiencing each other as safe.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps couples understand the cycle keeping them stuck and create new patterns of connection rooted in emotional safety, responsiveness, and secure attachment.

Why Work With a Specialized EFT Therapist?

Couple therapy is not individual therapy with two people. Couple therapy is a dynamic process that involves specialty training and education in the assessment and treatment of couples.

My practice is devoted to attachment-based relationship therapy. I have completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), receive ongoing consultation with certified EFT therapists, teach EFT to graduate clinicians, and continue advanced education in working with conflict patterns, trauma, addiction, intercultural relationships, and somatic approaches to healing. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Community for Emotionally Focused Therapy (OC-EFT), where I remain actively engaged in advancing excellence in attachment-based clinical practice

At the core of EFT is attachment theory which is a scientific model that explains how humans form lasting bonds and repair insecure relationships. EFT is relatively short-term compared to other models in that couples typically are in treatment for 8-20 weekly sessions. There has been a significant amount of scientific research that supports EFT as a model that can help to alleviate even the most serious relationship problems (e.g., affair, trauma, loss).

Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)

parents and their adult children (EFfT)

Some of our most enduring relationships are also our most complicated. Families affected by trauma, addiction, mental health challenges, or longstanding relational wounds often find themselves caught between love, responsibility, hurt, and hope. Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) provides a structured process for helping adult parents and adult children better understand one another, repair attachment injuries, and develop healthier ways of relating without losing themselves in the process.

Working with adult families is one of my primary clinical specialties. For years, I have helped families navigate highly complex situations involving addiction, trauma, mental illness, and chronic family conflict, supporting them in moving from crisis and reactivity toward greater understanding, emotional responsiveness, and collaboration.

My Approach

My role is not to determine who is right, but to create the conditions where parents can become more emotionally accessible, adult children can express themselves with greater clarity and safety, and families can begin building relationships that feel more secure, respectful, and sustainable.

Areas of Emphasis:

  • Trauma in the family

  • Addiction

  • History of institutionalization and/or rehab

  • Mental illness

  • Adoption

  • Illness

  • Grief and Loss
