Individual Therapy

telehealth in California, New York & Michigan

Therapy is not just about getting treatment for a “disorder”, therapy is also about getting you connected with yourself and your goals for your life. These goals can include developing community, processing emotions, building skills and healthy habits that maintain wellness within the context of your unique life.

Clients decide to see me for reasons ranging from personal growth to needing help managing anxiety and depression or more complex issues such as developmental trauma or PTSD. Regardless of the reason for seeking support, I work intentionally with my clients to cultivate a deep relationship that is rooted in humanism and understanding.

All therapy occurs in the context of the therapeutic relationship and effective therapy involves a collaborative, respectful, and well-attuned client-therapist relationship.

My niches:

  • Attachment-based therapy

  • Somatic therapy and nervous system regulation

  • Addiction and recovery; “adult children of alcoholics/dysfunctional families”

  • Supporting the “step-down” process post-intensive treatment

  • Chronic illness and autoimmune disorders

  • Coaching clients and families on navigating mental health treatment

  • Bi-coastal clients (LA and NY)

Clients tell me I am especially helpful in guiding them toward understanding themselves, their most meaningful needs, and in helping them learn how to have healthy and connected relationships. I work best with young adults, women, couple relationships, professionals and those who are living with chronic illness. My extensive background working in intensive treatment means clients are often drawn to my ability to understand their experience being in wilderness programs, intensive mental health and substance abuse treatment programs, and participating in interventions.

Holistic Trauma Recovery

As a trauma specialist, I work with a range of trauma issues including complex trauma, attachment wounds and post-traumatic stress disorder. My specialty trauma training is through the Somatic Experiencing Institute (SETI). My trauma work is comprehensive and focuses on healing the nervous system, improving resilience, and integrating mind, body, and emotions.

Truly integrated care

For eight years, I functioned as part of an integrated care team, working in settings such as psychiatric outpatient clinics residential care, and intensive outpatient programs. I have a deep understanding of the multiple dimensions that create our total mental health and I use this experience to effectively collaborate on a holistic treatment plan for my clients. It is common for my work to include referrals to dietitians, psychiatrists and other physicians, naturopaths, coaches, testing psychologists and other wellness professionals.

Typically, individual sessions are held on a weekly basis but can vary on frequency based on an individual's treatment plan. I will discuss session frequency during your first visit.
